Asian & Pacific Islander Arts and Culture Festival (Free) ~ Alameda, April 26Celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander heritage with Rhythmix Cultural Works at Alameda’s beautiful Bohol Circle Immigrant Park. Enjoy live music, dance, delicious food, and hands-on art activities for the whole family including Hawaiian hula from Alameda’s own Hālau Makana, Filipino folk music with The Sampaguitas, high-energy bhangra dance with Dholrhythms Dance Company, and vibrant drumming and dance with Korean Culture Center Urisawe.

First Friday at CuriOdyssey ~ San Mateo, April 4Celebrate Pi Day and kick off the weekend at CuriOdyssey’s First Friday Night on March 7, from 5–8 PM! Dance to your favorite hits, get creative with sticker-making and spirograph activities, and enjoy engaging animal presentations and science activities.

Word for WordPLAY Pajama Fam Jam (Free) ~ San Francisco, April 6Come relax with the whole family, drink some hot chocolate, and listen to some favorite kids’ stories read by Word for WordPLAY Director Gendell Hing-Hernández. With years of experience as a Word for Word performer and teacher, Gendell has a unique talent for making stories come to life and engaging children’s imaginations. There will also be fun games and activities in addition to the readings. Stuffed animals and pajamas are encouraged (it’s National Pajama Day!), but not required.

Bug Day at Randall Museum (Free) ~ San Francisco, April 12Join in the creepy-crawly fun and learn how important these little creatures are to the earth and to our survival here. Kids and their families can make their own fabulous bug-related crafts to take home, see and touch live insects and arachnids, take a scientific look at insects through microscopes, and compete in the pollinator relay. Live music provided by the ever fabulous Luke Schwartz Trio. Bug costumes encouraged. You may even win a special prize!
