Dear Fonseca,

I'm 16 years old and writing to you because my parents are divorcing. My mother is asking for an insane amount of child support which I'm not sure she deserves. Actually, both of my parents have been horrible to one another so the whole breakup is a mess. One person who does deserve some of the child support is me. I have told my mother I am entitled to a large portion of what she is going to be getting. If it wasn't for me she wouldn't be getting anything. She says I'm crazy because I get free room and board and that's more than enough. I disagree. I should be compensated because she's being compensated and because I've had to endure their awful relationship. One of my friends said I should hire a lawyer and get my cut. I'm asking for advice because I'm only a teenager. Am I entitled to the money? Do you agree with my thinking?
