Friday, August 5 First Friday at CuriOdyssey – San Mateo Swing into the weekend with music, science, animals and fun! On the first Friday of every month, from 5 pm until 8 pm, where parents and kids celebrate together at CuriOdyssey. Come together as a family, visit early, and stay late!

Saturday, August 6 World Dog Surfing Championships – Pacifica The World Championships for Dog Surfing take place on the Northern California coast — where the concept for the dog surfing sport originated — bringing together the best in local and international dog surfing talent. Top dog surfers as well as happy amateurs are invited to bring home the Golden Surfie Award. During the event there will be a number of activities including the surf competition, dog beach fashion contest, dog adoptions, partner tents and activities, and more.

Pixar Family Film Series – San Rafael Celebrate a summer of Pixar! Since 1995 the Pixar name has established the gold standard in family entertainment. Catch these classics again on the big screen. Saturday matinees are all $5 per ticket!

Sunday, August 7 Llama Llama Red Pajama Live – Orinda It’s been a big first day of school, and Llama’s happy to be home and wearing his favorite red pajamas. After his bedtime story, Mama Llama tucks him in and pops downstairs. Llama’s toys try to help him relax, but he’s too wiggly. This original, world-premiere musical will have everyone doing the Bedtime Dance!

PAL in the Parks: The Chinyakare Ensemble – Alameda, August 20 Celebrate world cultures and diversity through the arts with PAL – Family Concerts in the Parks. Chinyakare presents an electrifying performance of traditional Zimbabwean music, song and dance that weave colorful stories and scenes from everyday life, while teaching important lessons, such as goal-setting, perseverance, and thankfulness.
