Saturday, April 22 UnPeeled 2023: BANANAS Ultimate Children’s Event – Oakland UnPeeled will be held atChildren’s Fairyland, the well-loved amusement park beside Lake Merritt! UnPeeled will feature performances by Emily Butterfly (puppeteer/storyteller), Grandpa Clyde (musician/performer), the BANANAS Youth Club Book Reading and more! Saturday, April 22 from 10 am – 1 pm. Admission to this event is free to the entire community.

Giraffes Can’t Dance by Bay Area Children’s Theatre – Berkeley All the animals in the jungle know their own special dance, but Gerald the Giraffe can’t seem to move without a clumsy step. But with the help of a wise cricket, he finds his own song, and dances to the beat of his own drum! In this stage adaptation of the beloved children’s book, with puppets, African rhythm, and lots of dancing, Gerald learns that his differences are what make him special.

Urban Ed Academy SMART+ Saturday Program – San Francisco, April 22 The Urban Ed Academy SMART+ Saturday Program is FREE and open to all middle school students. Programming will be held from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Willie L. Brown Jr. Middle School located in the Bay View area in San Francisco, CA. Children will participate in fun lessons and projects with the goal of helping them become their own entrepreneur. Children will also explore hands on/interactive STEAM activities and outdoor/PE time.

Blackfest 2023 – Stanford, May 6 Blackfest is the largest free hip-hop event in the Bay Area, hosted by the Black Family Gathering Committee at Stanford University. The annual event provides a space for the Black community to come together. Blackfest features everything from food, clothing, and jewelry vendors to student artists, student dance performances, and more.

First Friday Nights at CuriOdyssey – San Mateo, May 6 On the first Friday of every month, from 5 pm until 8 pm, parents and kids celebrate together at CuriOdyssey. Swing into the weekend with live music, a food truck, animals and fun!

Family Day at Marin MOCA – Novato, May 7 This free program provides art-making opportunities to parents with their children. A fun and educational alternative to “screen time,” the program is taught by professional art instructors in a variety of media – from painting to mixed media to clay.
