Friday, February 3 First Friday at Chabot Space and Science Center– Oakland Why do some living creatures glow? Explore how organisms in the sea, land and the air use bioluminescence to adapt in nature. Are there examples of glowing on other planets? We’ll ask the scientists who are searching for the answers in this fun-filled evening with glow-in-the-dark hands-on activities and demonstrations. See and learn about real glowing organisms, experience illuminated installations and explore immersive experiences about the bioluminescent phenomenon.
First Friday Nights at Curiodyssey – San Mateo Swing into the weekend with live music, a food truck, animals and fun! On the first Friday of every month, from 5 pm until 8 pm, parents and kids celebrate together at CuriOdyssey. Dance to some of your favorite pop and rock hits, while enjoying animal presentations and science activities.

Saturday, February 4 Urban Ed SMART+ Saturday – San Francisco The Urban Ed Academy’s SMART+ Saturday program is FREE and open to all middle school students in San Francisco. Programming will be held from 9-3pm at Willie L Brown Middle School in San Francisco. The children will participate in fun lessons and projects with the goal of helping them become their own entrepreneur. They will be introduced to successful Black Business Owners to help guide them in their entrepreneurial journey. Children will also explore hands-on/interactive STEAM activities and outdoor PE time.
