Dear Fonseca

My mother-in-law and I got into a fight the other night because of a rule she has at her house. She tells all of the grandchildren that they have to 'clean their plates' otherwise they don't get to watch television, play video games or go outside. I told her this is a horrible rule. Why force the kids to eat if they are stuffed. It's only going to cause them to gain weight. She disagrees and says it teaches them to be thankful because kids in other countries don't have the luxury of eating a nice meal. She doesn't want them wasting food. Who do you side with on this one?
