Dear Fonseca

I may get fired because of a compliment I gave to a co-worker. On Tuesday, I was in our lunchroom at work when I overheard several women compliment a co-worker on her new dress. I also complimented her and told her she looked nice in the dress and that it made her look slim. She went to HR and filed a complaint against me. My HR Director brought me in yesterday and is now reviewing the case. She said there is a chance I could be fired because my compliment was taken as an insult. A woman, who works in the same department as me, paid a similar compliment and wasn't hauled into HR. I think I'm being discriminated against because I'm a man. I think this is wrong. Should I be fired? Was I in the wrong?

Signed,

Double Standard
