Best Life Magazine says people don't have to be worried about being infected with the zombie fungus from ''The Last of Us'' because human body temperatures are too high for it to live.

University of Utah biology professor Bryn Dentinger says, "Our body temperatures are high enough that most organisms, their proteins would denature at that temperature and so they can't survive in our bodies. But that doesn't mean there's no cause for concern. Climate change is enabling some fungi to withstand higher temperatures. So it's possible that someday, a mind-controlling fungus that can infect humans won't just be science fiction. That may be one reason why we're seeing more fungal infections in human, but again, to date, none of them are cordyceps. However, maybe that will happen in the future, but, at the moment, that is not a possibility."

Dear Fonseca

My husband and I were playing cards with friends on Saturday night when the topic of Valentine's Day came up. He made a dumb comment and said it's a Hallmark holiday. He then said that it's okay to buy a box of chocolates from a dollar store because it's not the cost of the gift that counts it's the thought that matters. In most cases, I would agree, but not this one. Valentine's Day is a special holiday for women so I don't think the phrase, ''it's not the cost that matters, it's the thought that counts'', applies here. Women want to be spoiled on Valentine's Day. Is it too much to ask men to put forth the effort and money to make sure that happens? It's only one day a year. When it comes to Valentine's Day is it the cost or the thought that counts?
